Tu bendición

"Tu Bendición" (Your Blessing) is the heart of the album and the hardest song I have ever written. It is my tribute to my mother, and to the blessing she left me that I still carry every day.

It tells the story of the last blessing she gave me, from her hospital bed. For as long as I can remember, before any goodbye, she would make the sign of the cross over me, just in case we did not get the chance to see each other again. That time she could no longer raise her arms to do it the way she always had, but I could feel her doing it anyway. When words had become too hard to find, her hands and her presence still spoke volumes of love. I think we both knew.

She gave her whole life through countless quiet sacrifices, and never once asked for anything in return. That is the love I grew up inside of, and the reason I know how to love at all.

Her blessing did not end in that room. It stays with me as a guide and a source of strength in my everyday life. The resilience she showed through all of her battles is the same strength I lean on now, and the same capacity to love that I try to carry forward to others.

I named the album after this song because her blessing is what she left me. Her memory lives on in my voice, in what I do, and in my heart, and that is how I know our bond is stronger than any separation. Her love reached me without a single movement, and it has never stopped reaching me since.
